What are the top 5 favourite snacks of BORA - hansgrohe's professional cyclists when they're not on their bikes? In this way, they top up their stores and treat their body and mind to something good.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Three meals a day, that's how most of us grow up. But when hunger strikes in between meals, tastes differ. And professional cyclists in particular have such a high energy metabolism that they would not be able to perform without a snack in between. A compromise between healthy ingredients and soul food is often required. After all, happiness and satisfaction are just as important as providing energy and optimising regeneration. But what do the guys from BORA - hansgrohe reach for when hunger can't wait until the next meal? We asked our drivers for their five favourite snacks.

5st place: Hummus

Perhaps the only real surprise in this list and yet quite rightly included: Hummus, the oriental speciality made from pureed chickpeas, is a real all-purpose weapon - as a spread for savoury pastries, meat, sweet potatoes or as a dip for raw vegetables. Or as Jai Hindley says: "I could bathe in it!" Humus is also very healthy, contains complex carbohydrates, lots of protein and, compared to other dips, very little fat.

    4st place: Ice cream

A classic, especially in hot temperatures. Because a "gelato" is not just part of a perfect day on the bike for amateur cyclists on holiday in Italy. In a wafer, on a stick or in a cup. Prepared with as little sugar as possible and garnished with fresh fruit, it refreshes body and soul in equal measure. Emanuel Buchmann, among others, swears by this.

      3st place: Chocolate

Chocolate is probably the most popular snack sin. Some people can't stop eating after breaking a tablet. However, professional cyclists should exercise restraint and weigh up exactly how much is allowed and when. However, there are also variants that are not as unhealthy as their reputation. Dark chocolate in particular, as favoured by Bob Jungels, contains a lot of antioxidants. These have a positive effect on the cardiovascular system and have been proven to make people happy.

        2st place: Cheesecake

Cake and cycling also belong together for the professionals at BORA - hansgrohe. The choice is huge but the favourite is clear: Cheesecake! In the French version "Tarte au Flan" by Nico Denz or the classic version by Maximilian Schachmann. As a low-carb version without sugar or garnished with berries. Many paths lead to the goal.

1st place: Yoghurt with muesli and fruit

Simple, quick, versatile and a green light from every nutritionist. Yoghurt or low-fat quark form the creamy base and provide low-fat protein for regeneration after training. Muesli or cornflakes replenish your carbohydrate stores. Fruit as a topping adds flavour and provides valuable vitamins. Aleksander Vlasov and Toni Palzer are among those who love it.
